The oldest stone temple of Bhaktapur Durbar Square was constructed on top of seven layers of parapets. This temple faces the south. On the entrance staircase, on each layer, on both sides, there are stone images of a man and a woman with children, Horses, rhinos, sphinxes, camels and deities. On the exterior of the temple there are 14 images of Durga and on the four sides of temple, there are fore half bodies of lions that seem to fly away. The stone carvings on the pillars and Torans are equally significant architectural elements of this temple.
भक्तपुर दुरवार क्षेत्रको सवैभन्दा पुरानो ढुङ्गाको मन्दिर हो । जसको निर्माण ने.सं. ७९२ मा राजा जगतप्रकाश मल्लले गरेको हो । शिखर शैलीमा ७ तह पेटी माथि निर्मित यस मन्दिर दक्षिणभिमुख भई प्रवेश मार्गमा प्रत्येक पेटीमा तल देखि माथि क्रमशः बालक सहितको नारी तथा पुरुष, घोडा, गैंडा, नरमानव, उट तथा देवदेवीका मुर्ति छन् भने मन्दिर बाहिर दुर्गाको अति राम्रा १४ मुर्तिहरु तथा चार दिशामा चार उड्न लागेका सिंहको आधा अग्रभागको मुर्ति, ढुङ्गाका कलात्मक थाम तथा तोरणले यो मन्दिर प्रसिद्ध छ ।
