The temple of Kedareshwor or Rameshwor was constructed in NS 593 while the royal family was constructing four holy sites in memory one of their departed members. Later in the period of King Bhupatindra Malla, the temple took the form of a terracotta temple, which consists of Burja on each of the four sides and an idol of Ekadash Rudra. This temple is known as one of the four Holy Sites (Dham). The earthquake of BS 1990 destroyed its top and the earthquake of 2072 BS destroyed it entirely.
ने.सं. ५९३ मा राज परिवारकी एक दिवंगत महिलाको सम्झनामा भक्तपुर लायकुमा चारधाम स्थापनार्थ यस रामेश्वर वा केदारेश्वर मन्दिर निर्माण भएको हो । पछि राजा भुपतिन्द्र मल्लको पालामा चार दिशामा चारवटा बुर्जा निकाली एकादश रुद्रको मर्ति सहित इटै इटाको मन्दिरको रुपमा विकास भयो । चारधाम मध्ये एक धामको रुपमा यो मन्दिर प्रसिद्ध छ । वि.सं. १९९० सालको महाभुकम्पमा यसको गजुरको भागमा क्षति पुगेको र त्यसपश्चात जिर्णोद्धार भएकोमा २०७२ सालको भुकम्पले पुरै मन्दिर क्षति पुगी हाल पुनःनिर्माण हुंदैछ ।
