King Jitamitra Malla got this chowk constructed while getting Thanthu Palace and many other chowks. This chowk is at the entrance of the palace itself. The old office of Bhaktapur Municipality was placed in Thathu Palace. This building was destroyed in the earthquake of April 2015 and nowadays is being reconstructed by Bhaktapur Municipality.
राजा जितामित्र मल्लले ने.सं.७९८ मा थंथु दरवार बनाएको समयमा विभिन्न चोक बनाउने क्रममा सिद्धि चोक पनि बनाएको प्रमाण छ । थंथु दरवारको मुख्य द्वार छिरेपछि यो चोक पुग्छ । भक्तपुर नगरपालिकाको पुरानो भवन नै थंथु दरवार हो । २०७२ सालको भूकम्पले क्षतिग्रस्त बनेको छ ।
