The name of Kumari Chowk comes ahead whenever those of all 99 chowks are mentioned. The credit of constructing this chowk goes to Jargajyoti Malla. While reconstructing this chowk taking almost fifteen years, King Jargajyoti Malla fixed 11 golden pinnacles along with excellent metal artifacts, and wood carvings. Historically, the NS 801 scripture of Chandi Pathpith, the scripture placed on the southern door, and the scripture craved on the stone bed in NS 812 are considered very important.
ऐतिहासिकः भक्तपुर तलेजुभित्रका ९९ चोकहरुमध्ये मूलचोक पछि अति कलात्मक, भव्य चोकमा कुमारी चोकको नाम अग्रपंतिमा आउँछ । कुमारी चोक बनाउने श्रेय जर्गज्योति मल्ललाई जान्छ । मूल चोकको पश्चिम पट्टी ११ वटा सुनको गजुरसहित स्थापित यो चोकको जिर्णोद्धार राजा जितामित्र मल्लले १५ वर्ष लगाएर गर्ने क्रममा यो चोक धातुकला, प्रस्तर कला, काष्ठकला, मुर्तिकलाको अनुपम नमूना नै बनेको छ । कुमारी चोकको चण्डीको पाठपिठको ने.सं. ८०१ को अभिलेख, दक्षिण लङको ढोकाको ने.सं. ८०१ कै अभिलेख, ढुङ्गाको खाटको ने.सं. ८१२ को अभिलेख ऐतिहासिक दृष्टिकोणले महत्वपूर्ण छ ।
