Bhaktapur town is encircled by the Astamatrika devis from all directions and there is a pond nearby all bastion of Astamatrika. Among them nearby the Indrayani Pith at the west of Dhawaahiti, there is a small pond known as Ram Pukhu. As this is within Indrayani area, it is also known as Indrayani Pukhu. Lotus blossom in this pukhu, so it is also called Paleswan Pukhu.
भक्तपुर नगरलाई चारै दिशामा अष्टमातृका देवीको पीठ वरपर खुला ठाउँमा रहेका पोखरी नै ख्यः पुखु (धवाहिटी पुखु)हुन् । तीमध्ये इन्द्रायणी देवीको पीठको पश्चिममा धवाहिटीसँगै रहेको ख्यः पुखु (धवाहिटी पुखु) इन्द्रायणी देवीमा समर्पित पोखरी हो । त्यसकारण यो पोखरीलाई इन्द्रायणी पुखु पनि भनिएको हो । यो पोखरीमा कमलको फुल फुल्ने भएकोले आजभोलि पलेस्वाँ पुखु भनी पनि जानिन्छ ।
