Bhimsen Temple is another important heritage located in Tachapal Tole of Bhaktapur. It is believed that this temple was established by King Jagat Prakash Malla. Since Bhimsen is considered the god of trade, the Bhimsen of Tachapal is among the most worshipped deities in Bhaktapur after the one at Chupighat.
This is a rectangular, two-storied temple built in the Nepalese architectural style, facing east. Inside the temple, there are idols of Bhimsen along with Draupadi. A tradition is observed here where a ceremonial pole (Chir) is erected one week before Holi Purnima (Chir Swayegu), and it is taken down on the day of Holi Purnima.
Similarly, every year on Yomari Purnima night, the Bhimsen deity is taken in a palanquin (Khats) procession to Nasmana Tole Dabli in Bhaktapur for worship and then brought back to the temple.
भक्तपुर तचपाल टोलको एक अर्को महत्वपूर्ण सम्पदा भिमसेन मन्दिर पनि पर्छ । यो मन्दिरको स्थापना राजा जगत प्रकाश मल्लले गरेको मानिन्छ । भिमसेन व्यापारको देवता भएके सन्दर्भमा तचपालको यो भिमसेन देवता भक्तपुरको चुपिघाटपछि सर्वाधिक पुजा गर्ने देवतामा पर्छ । नेपाली छाने शैलीको आयताकार दुई तल्ले मन्दिर भित्र पुर्वाभिमुख भई स्थापना गरेको मन्दिर भित्र भिमसेन र साथमा द्रौपदीको मूर्ति छ । यहां होली पुन्ही एक हप्ता अगाडि चीर स्वायेगु अर्थात चीर स्थापना गर्ने परम्परा छ । जुन होली पुन्हीको दिन समाप्त हुन्छ । त्यस्तै प्रत्येक वर्ष योमरीपुन्ही राति यहांको भिमसेनलाई खटमा जात्रा गरी भक्तपुरको नासमना टोल डबलीमा लगी पुजा गरी फिर्ता ल्याउने परम्परा छ ।
